March is National Nutrition Month and what better way to celebrate it than with creative promotional displays or in-store events. Last week, we spoke to you about in-store and community events that can drive traffic to your store and increase banana sales. This week, we will provide you with some nutritional benefits of bananas, developing unique promotional displays and a few tips on nutritional benefits of peanuts, since March is also National Peanut Month.
Why are bananas are good for your health?
- Bananas are high in potassium and pectin, a form of fiber
- They are a good way to receive vitamin C, magnesium and vitamin B6
- Bananas are high in antioxidants, which provides protection from free radicals
- They can reduce swelling, protect against Type-2 Diabetes, aid in weight loss, strengthen nervous system and help with producing white blood cells, all due to vitamin B6.
- They are good for the heart because of the potassium, which is a mineral that keeps electricity flowing throughout the body
- Bananas can help with depression symptoms due to high levels of tryptophan they contain
- Bananas are good for digestion, vision, bones and can protect against kidney cancer
Creating unique promotional displays can be difficult, especially when it comes to bananas. We recommend you have fun with these displays. Look at special holidays, such as this one, to help you be creative. Consider something big that will instantly drive customers and children to that area. For example, an advertising agency in Germany placed a huge banana peel in front of an eyewear store promoting eyewear, the message said, “You can’t overlook a slippery banana peel.” This can easily be something to place in a your store when promoting bananas that will not only get customers attention, but can create buzz around town and drive more traffic to your store. Another idea could be to get a blowup gorilla and pile bananas all around it. These types of creative campaigns will help increase sales and have customers coming back for more exciting visuals.
Now, for a few nutritional benefits of peanuts. Peanuts or peanut butter can be a good way of cross-marketing with bananas. Place recipe cards around that area to attract more sales. It can be as simple as a peanut butter banana caterpillar recipe.
Why peanuts are good for your health?
- They help lower cholesterol
- They are good source of protein and fiber
- Peanuts are a great source of monounsaturated fatty acids
- They contain resveratrol, which works as an antioxidant
- Can help with weight loss, if portions are minimal
We hope this gets your creative juices flowing to create new banana displays or cross-marketing campaigns.
